A workshop for businesses in the creative industry sector
What is the event about?
Every business owns intellectual assets. It could be the artistic design, shape or brand of your product, but also includes, for example, company know-how, market intelligence and trade secrets. Do you know how to protect and exploit these to ensure your business achieves its optimum performance and growth and secures greater competitive advantage?
This workshop, delivered by Ken Marr, Targeting Innovation, on behalf of the IAC, will provide a general introduction to different types of intellectual assets, their protection and exploitation with a focus on key IA issues for the creative industries sector. However individuals or businesses from any sector are welcome to attend to find out more.
Steph Skilton, on behalf of the Intellectual Assets Centre, will also introduce the intellectual property (IP) health check online tool which is free to use. It’s broken down into the four IP elements covering Patents, Trade Marks, Designs and Copyright, as well as advice on Licensing Intellectual Property and managing Confidential Information. We will hear about what the health check is and how to use it effectively to ensure that you can realise the full potential in your business assets.
This event is organised and hosted by UHI HI Links, a free service helping companies to develop business ideas in collaboration with Scotland’s academic experts.
