I have worked for the last three years on a project where SMEs in IT in the five Nordic countries have leveraged their intangibles with definite sucess. The basic principles of this work applies to any industry. For further information take a look at www.si.is/nhki. I also wrote an article in JIC which explains this. For your reference this is:

Claessen, E. (2005). "Strategic use of IC reporting in small and medium-sized IT companies: A progress report from a Nordic project." Journal of Intellectual Capital 6(4): 558.

Absolutely. In fact SMEs may have a greater relative amount of IA compared to tangibles than larger firms. Check out some of the case studies for examples.

Do SMEs have intangibles or is all this only applicable to Big Business?
