
Our team of staff have a sound grounding in working with all sectors within Scotland, developing new models for Scotland in capturing and managing Intellectual Assets, project management and consultancy. In addition they are all extremely client focussed and excel at understanding client's requirements.
The Board of Director's is chaired by James Houston and forms the heart of the decision making process for the Centre's strategy, finance and monitoring of activities.
Coming from a background in the arts and education sectors, Alison is a Chartered Marketer who has now been working within the field of intangible asset management for the last five years, helping Scottish companies and organisations gain maximum advantage from the intangible aspects of their business.
Alison's main areas of interest lie within the fields of relational capital management, relationship marketing, branding and audience/market development, with specific expertise in: internal & external communications, stakeholder management and strategic marketing planning.
Alison holds full membership of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Chartered Management Institute and Arts Marketing Association.
David has a wide and varied experience of IA management gained through working in a range of roles and industries. He has been a researcher, marketer, business advisor, managing director and consultant. Although much of David’s experience was gained in life science and biomedicine he has also worked on projects in many other sectors, IA-relevant consultancy activities in sectors ranging from textiles to medical devices.
Whilst at Targeting Technology Limited, David was involved in running the 2001 Intellectual Assets Conference which stimulated the creation of the IA Centre.
Martin has 20 years of experience in the field of IP and wider IA management.
In addition to working at the UK Intellectual Property Office from 1991–2006, latterly as a trade mark examination team leader and hearing officer - Martin has also undertaken periods of secondment to the IA Centre and as a Seconded National Expert to OHIM (the European Union Trade Marks and Designs Registry).
Martin rejoined the Intellectual Assets Centre full time in 2009, specialising in: intellectual asset management (IAM); value creation and release through IAM; workshop development, facilitation and training in IA management and IP management.
Having come from a background of running a successful business within Scotland's IT sector, Stuart has first hand experience of the value and pitfals of running a business. As an IA Adviser, Stuart provides advice and guidance to SMEs aiming to protect their innovations, with specialism within the technology sector.
Over the course of Stuart's academic research, he has developed an active interest in the field of intangibles valuation and is combining his research with practical valuation tool development for use with Scottish companies.
Coming from a successful commercial background, owning and running several companies within the private sector, Catherine brings a wealth of experience and expertise, to her role as Support Services Manager at the IA Centre - all of which is supplemented by her current studies in Law.
Catherine's key responsibilities include overall management of the Centre's IT, HR and operational management functions, ensuring the efficient and smooth running of all internal and external operations activities.
In addition to managing all of the support services, Catherine actively contributes to the Centre's client facing activities at both strategic and operational levels.
Ewen has been involved in IA management and consultancy for many years in a variety of sectors and roles including: Interim management positions working to resolve management and operational issues; People management and performance management processes; IP and IA advice and management including in a technology R&D environment; Sector management consulting, particularly Food and Drink and ,Technology; Design, development and implementation of projects to support high growth businesses in Scotland.
He was one of the team which delivered the first IA conference in Scotland and was actively involved in the creation of the IA Centre during 2003 and 2004.
